This post is part of the A to Z Challenge. My theme for the month is A to Z of words in English with an Arabic origin.
In Desi and Arab cultures, before the wedding, the bride’s hands and feet are often coloured and beautifully decorated with exquisite Henna designs. Children and ladies adorn their hands during festivals and other celebrations too.
What is unique about wedding celebrations in your culture/country?
Gorgeous! I love henna, the designs are stunning.
Me too ! Some people are born henna artists !
I love Mehndi sessions… Best thing about Indian weddings!
They sure are. Fun, frolic and laughter !
Ooh in Mexican weddings they have this lasso thing that they put around the bride and groom at a certain point during the church service to symbolize them becoming one. I like that one.
Aww… such a cute tradition ! Thank you for sharing them with me.
I love henna! Weddings in my culture are all about the food. There’s always traditional Jamaican dishes served, and rum cake is usually ALWAYS the cake flavor of choice.
Even in Indian traditions, food is a major attraction !
Those henna designs on the hands are awesome. In my culture, I guess I like the kiss best–as in, “You may kiss the bride.” 🙁

I find it very cute. Though in Indian cultures we donot have that. Also personally, I feel I might be very shy with 1000 pair of eyes looking at us ! 😀
I appreciated having the henna hands to study for awhile. I’m always reluctant to look at someone with elaborate skin designs because I don’t know whether that’s rude. It’s not like looking at inanimate art. These are gorgeous.
Usually brides love showing off their henna designs ! 🙂
Thank you for stopping by.
My sister loves those tattoos! I have never had one…
