A couple of weeks ago, I had said, we would be continuing with online classes for Daughter 5. Well, her school informed us we had to compulsorily send her for physical classes. So today was her first day back in school, after a gap of 10 months! She was way too excited! I was more worried about her younger sister – she doesn’t really remember the time her sister used to go to school. As expected, the younger one was quite upset – she wanted a dress, shoes, bag and school bus like her elder sis! 🙁
May God protect our children from all sort of harm, evil and illness.

Blurry Pictures. Noise. Excitement. Elder daughter was doing a robot dance while the younger one laughed her heart out watching the performance. I just observed them having the most fun with the simplest of ‘toys’! Simple memories I want to be etched forever!

Most bloggers/vloggers will have a few recipes and food related posts on their online space. Well, I have none! This would be my first food related picture. Simply for one reason. I absolutely hate cooking. *something blasphemous to say for a Malabar Girl* 😁 but that is the absolute truth.
I often say, I cook only because I have three mouths to feed, two with growing up needs and another, after a long demanding hard day at work! Or else, I would have survived on Maggi Noodles and Bread & Jam!
There are three main reasons why I hate to cook : 1) It takes a lot of time, especially desi cuisine. Time that I could spent with my children or in creative pursuits! 2) Deciding what to cook. Decision- fatigue! Deciding day in and day out what to cook for three meals a day! 3) Monotonous. Same routine or cuisine.
Of late, I am trying to change my “feeling” towards cooking – *trying* to meal prep, creating a weekly meal plan on my Bullet Journal and cooking new dishes and recipes! (Tasbih and Adhkar too while cooking, it comes *subconsciously* because that is what I have seen my mom do and I think my brain has stored it that way. Haha. Alhamdulilah )
Also, I absolutely hate that notion in our culture -If you are a great cook, you are an amazing daughter/ inlaw/wife/mother etc.
So after saying all this, I don’t mean to say that I don’t cook for my family or that I am a lousy cook, just that I don’t enjoy it as much as I enjoy being with my kids or reading or writing. Frankly, I don’t want my kids to remember me as ‘always in the kitchen!’ (Also it helps I have a better half who has the same views as me regarding spending time in the kitchen😀 *Hi takeaway*)
The above spice mix was clicked today – while cooking Mutton Bukhari Rice, recipe from @shabosphere.( I love her recipes, they are tasty, easy and savior for people like me 😄)
*Looking forward to the day I can outsource daily cooking*😃 (barring baking & biriyani!)

Well, you will be wondering why I am putting up artwork of my child? I was not planning to make her draw the picture which was given as part of her Thursday assignment. I thought it would be too difficult for her and why to tax her ?! She looked at the picture and drew the above herself. I should not UNDERESTIMATE her – I am reminding myself!
“Your children are not your children.Kahlil Gibran
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.”

Today we went for the Al Khor Carnival and it was amazing, though heavily crowded! It was supposed to start on the 21st but got delayed due to the adverse weather conditions. There are children’s play area – paid and free, inflatable play area, a bazaar or market place, a nicely decorated and well set-up food court area. With the cool weather now, it is a perfect spot for families. (Timings 12 PM – 6 PM, until 6th February)
How was your week? (Project 365)
