Dr Shahira Mohamed is a dentist-turned-clinical researcher based in Doha, Qatar. She recently graduated with her Master’s in Information Systems in Health Management at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), where her work explores the intersections of digital health, population health, oral health and artificial intelligence. With over seven years of experience across clinical care, public health, and academic research, Shahira brings a multidisciplinary perspective to healthcare innovation.

Beyond academia, Shahira is a writer, mother of four, and lifelong learner. Through her blog drshahira.com, she documents reflections on motherhood, faith, research, and personal growth, blending the personal with the professional.

She hopes to make meaningful contributions to the field of digital and population health research in Qatar, while continuing to write about the small, yet profound moments that shape everyday life.

THE PERSONAL SIDE

The first advice every digital marketing or SEO expert gives is to “niche down.” But over the years, my blog has grown and evolved just as I have. It reflects my varied interests at different stages of life, from personal reflections to motherhood, creativity, academics, and now, research and professional growth.

For a while, I considered deleting everything and starting fresh. But that wouldn’t truly represent my journey. Each post, each phase, tells a story of how I’ve learned, changed, and explored new passions. I choose to honour all parts of my growth, the hobbies I’ve loved, the creative pursuits I’ve tried, and the professional milestones I’ve reached.

This blog is, in many ways, an online reflection of my life, not in its entirety, but enough to show the evolving chapters that make me who I am.

A little bit of background on the journey of this blog below (Written in 2016)

I started as a private personal blogger on Querencia in January 2008. Shifted to WordPress as The Word Trance to explore the creative genre of writing from January 2013 until January 2016. Relaunching my blog as a Muslim Lifestyle blog to record this beautiful journey of life, review products and meet other writer friends!

I talk about Motherhood – its different facets, its unique situations and the everyday learning you do as a parent. I shall be reviewing different baby/mom products that I have used and really approve of. I intend to curate posts and update the resource list important to moms here in Qatar.

My Faith (Islam) is an important part of my life, and hence I shall write about Islamic traditions and rules in relation to motherhood and our Muslim lifestyle in general.

I am a Dentist by profession with over 3 years of experience in Qatar; hence, my posts will have a tinge of dental facts, especially in Paediatric Dentistry.

I was once a book lover – now two tiny hands conquer the pages of my books, yet I try to keep up with my interest. A book review or two can often be found on my blog.

This blog is an extension of me and an outlet for my creative interests. Only posts, products and brands whose values match mine shall be present on my blog.
