This post is part of the A to Z Challenge. My theme for the month is A to Z of words in English with an Arabic origin
As a high schooler, what was your reaction on seeing (a+b)2 = a2+b2+2ab ?
Algebra… some people love it, others detest it and yet others wonder about the connection between x, y and the real world. Let us look in to the origin of this word which denotes a fascinating branch of mathematics.
What was your high school math experience like? Number freak or x, y hater?
(The first post in the A to Z Challenge. Excited )
A world in the word … I love numbers and algebra was most interesting to me. Calculus not great for me .. will this be your C I wonder?
Thank you for this post …
Now I should go hunt for the etymology of Calculus.. Greek, I suppose? I shall be posting the C in a while and guess what’s the common word that begins with C and has an Arabic origin? 🙂
Thank you for stopping by.
Algebra… In highschool I was quite good at it actually and kind of liked it. In University I studied the humanities though so I forgot a lot of the more complicated stuff, but being the nerd that I was and am, I never did shy away from challenging academic stuff…
I have a similar story. I loved Algebra and math during my school days. But ended up becoming a dantist, far away from the mathematical world !

I hated algebra in high school! Failed Geometry in 11th grade. Then when I went back to school at age 38 I had to take elementary algebra to begin nursing school. God blessed me with a WONDERFUL teacher who knew who to teach to adult brains and I got A’s in both elementary and intermediate algebra. I am a nurse today because of that one teacher. He believed in me and knew how to teach my brain to understand. Blessings on your Blogging challenge. Look forward to learning from you.
The impact one good teacher can have on our lives is sometimes totally undermined. You were lucky to be taught by such an inspiring soul.
Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you for the derivation of words, such psychological meaning in the numerology.

Thank you for reading the blog 🙂 Good day !
I loved algebra in school. It was the best part of my day. Literally. There’s just something so satisfying about finding out the value of X. Haha. Geometry is a different story. Whoever decided to throw shapes in the mix is just the spawn of the devil.
haha ! I can totally understand !
Stopping by on the first day of the #atozchallenge. Hope you make lots of new blogging friends this month. For the record, hated algebra and had to go to summer school to finally pass. 🙂
Thank you very much for stopping by here on my page. 🙂
I liked maths as long as it wasn’t too challenging. I’m looking ofrward to connecting on AtoZ

Great first post for the AtoZ challenge. I dislike algebra more now as a parent than I ever did as a student.:) Good luck with the challenge. Loved you bio!
