First Week of Virtual Classes – Week 14, 2021 -Project 365

Week 14 of 2021 Alhamdulilah! Sharing a picture daily from our small world as part of Project 365

What a windy day. The kids had so much fun trying to fly with the wind.

Did you realize the pandemic kids have learnt one beautiful lesson throughout this whole ordeal?

That they will never overlook the simple things of life – like the strong wind on your face! The fresh beach air. Simple outdoor fun with your sibling
❤️

We lament our kids are missing out on their school and social activities. Maybe, just maybe they are learning to be grateful and mindful. Maybe this experience of staying at home and social isolation is teaching them too…in ways we never thought about!

First day of school, the pandemic style

Can’t believe we are doing online-first-day-of school still again this year too.

Still cant digest the fact that my little baby girl is going to grade1.

The thing is, I still remember my first day of school in MES in 1994. I remember my dad dropping me in 1-G. I remember the class, the teacher and the students!

The thing is that is how it the first day of school should be in our thoughts- A vivid memory! Not yet another day at home when your mom wakes you up early for you to sit in front of a screen and see stranger faces!

Mama, The book has such a nice smell!’

She utters as she skims through her new books.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

I loved the smell of new school books. I loved reading the books before the beginning of the academic year.

Trying to keep her busy while the elder one has her virtual classes! (Sneaky way of making her do my pre ramadan prep!)

I am also attending Qatar History class with her. QH is now a compulsory subject from Grade 1 onwards. It wasn’t part of the curriculum when I was in school. Hence, I am learning along with her!

Done with the first week of virtual classes and I am really exhausted – rather that would be an understatement. I am running like a headless chicken with the online classes, house chores and the deep cleaning I want to finish before Ramadan, all while not allowed to go outside. The brunt of this pandemic is borne by the mothers, I say!

Want to see the highlight of my day? I got this magic eraser! Yay! It will aid in my deep cleaning. If you haven’t used it ever, check it out. Such an amazing thing for all spots and oily marks in the kitchen. They are also available on Amazon.

  1. Good luck to your girl in Grade 1. The learning during the pandemic certainly is different from our school days. Ahh! I love the smell of new books too. Virtual classes are exhausting! x

  2. It’s hard for them not to have that school experience that we remember so well. I hope it’s all going ok. I’m just praying that my son will get to finish his Primary school time actually in school – time will tell for us on that. I think I’d enjoy Qatar history lessons – I know nothing about your country sadly other than your capital city – that’s not good is it #365

  3. That’s a good point about the pandemic helping kids learn not to overlook the simple thing of life – I think that’s been true for many of us adults too! Online-first-day-of-school is such a strange way to start off at school – not the way it should be really. I used to love the smell of new school books too. Juggling online learning and chores is a challenge at times. I like the sound of the magic eraser. #project365

  4. Flying with the wind sounds wonderful. You are right, we all appreciate things we take for granted more now, like w alking in the wind and feeling the fresh air on your face. I’m not surprised you’re exhausted, homeschooling is a full-time job. I love the smell of new books.

  5. Awww no poor you homeschooling is so exhausting, I have enjoyed mine finally returning to school full time last week. Your girls look so happy in the wind! Love the rainbow birthday card. That magic eraser looks cool, not heard of these.

  6. I can totally relate to the exhaustion that online classes bring while trying to run a house and work from home. This has also been our life far too much. I am surprised we are still in one piece to be honest. But you are right hopefully they will never take the simple for granted again.

  7. I do think this pandemic has taught the children to enjoy simple things. It has also done the same for me if I’m honest. Online school is the sad thing about it. Our children are missing so much of the normal school stuff you remember #365
