Soulmate - A yearning for love

Soulmate

For 25 years, I have lived away from you. I dont recall the first time I felt the sorrow of being separated from you. I dont know your name or your likes. Heck, I dont know even know when and where we will eventually meet.

I am passionately awaiting your return, yet I am not mindlessly pining for it, without getting my work done. In the loneliness of being separated from you, I have leaned closer to God. Loneliness was my nudge to get on to the path. My push to prolong my Sajdah (prostration). My lesson to rely solely upon Him. I make dua to Him for you, every single day.

I finished my degree, I joined work. I pursued my hobbies. I met good friends. I enjoyed a complete year with my family, after my graduation,  with no absolute worry. I travelled alone. I went to the Holy Lands with my parents. In His most holiest place, I prayed for you.

…yet, somewhere,  in the midst of it all, I have missed you.

I wonder of your interests and hobbies. Do you enjoy reading as much as I do? Or will you consider collecting books a frivolous habit? Do you follow tenets of your faith sincerely? Do you love God? Do you learn of His Deen? Will you help me complete half my faith?

“Souls are like conscripted soldiers; those whom they recognize, they get along with, and those whom they do not recognize, they will not get along with.”  Hadith. I know I havent met you yet. For if I had, I would have recognised you. Wouldn’t I? I want to know of your habits and quirks. I want to know of your dreams and hopes. I want to know you.

Until the day I meet you, I will continue to do what I have been doing until now – live life every single day, trying to strengthen the other half of my faith. Hoping you too.

A thousand stories to share with you.  A thousand stories to be shared with you.

(The 365 prompts Ebook by the Daily Post has My favorite – What’s the most time you’ve ever spent apart from your favorite person? Tell us about it” as the prompt for January 6. I might not be able to do it all, but will occasionally blog using these prompts. Looking forward to meeting actual 365 ers)
