Kohl-lined eyes

This post is part of the A to Z Challenge. My theme for the month is A to Z of words in English with an Arabic origin.

Way before MAC and Maybelline were in trend in the West, Eastern women used to line wpid-20140413_000224.jpgtheir shapely beautiful eyes with black Kohl. To this day, Kohl remains a cosmetic necessity in many Eastern cultures. Kohl is usually applied with the help of a stick and requires practice.

  1. I really like eyeliners and mascara because I’m blond therefore I totally need it 🙂 And I think women in the East use it beautifully, wish I could learn it!

  2. I use the Surma for cooling my eyes and they are medicinal too. Many varieties out there. But for daily use, I apply a herbal kajal which doesn’t stay long in my eyes which water so fast or just start smudging or disappear due to my hay fever nature. Eyes begin itching first. :(.
Mascara is for special occasions and eye liners too. But no kajal means sleepy and bare eye for me. Surma is the only water proof stuff in my eyes. Because it’s powder. 🙂
Between have seen this stuff in the picture with a friend and tried once. It’s awesome but not available in local stores here. 🙁
